Born and raised in San Diego, California, award-winning photographer Sasha Shemirani has had an interesting career path. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego, Sasha wrote and directed several short films, which spanned the festival circuit across the country. From there, he moved to New York City to work in the financial world, but despite the lovely perks of that occupation (pre-financial crisis), Sasha moved to Los Angeles in 2007 to work in the mailroom of a prestigious Hollywood Talent Agency. While there, he developed the skills as a photographer and started shooting some of the agency’s top clients.
In 2011, he made a career breakthrough after by competing against 4200 photo entries, and winning first place in his category in Canon Camera’s 4th Annual Emerging Pro Competition for Digital Photo Pro Magazine.
Just one year later, Sasha and his producing partners Elisha Galvan and Chris Sabat, entered the annual Crash the Superbowl Contest by Doritos. Their entry, “Express Checkout,” earned a spot as a top five. finalist among 3500 entries.
Currently, Sasha is based in Los Angeles, where he shoots professionally, and heads a successful creative agency called HDKmedia. His clients include ABC, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Atlantic Records, FritoLay, Sam’s Club Magazine, Williams Sonoma, & Alamos Wines.
